TJ Mahoney, licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with the State of New York, is a seasoned CAO/VP of Accounting with nearly 20 years of experience in Real Estate, Private Equity, and Venture Capital. He excels in Fund Accounting, implementing software systems, and developing financial policies and procedures. Having exhibited success and growth across both large organizations like Blackstone, Apollo Global Management, and Toll Brothers, as well as start-ups and medium-sized firms, TJ is an effective collaborator known for his strong communication skills.
He holds a BBA in Accounting, an MBA in Finance, and completed Executive Education at The Wharton School. Since 2017, he has been building and leading teams, successfully assisting in fund syndication and financial reporting for various clients, including two Venture Capital (VC) firms and a Real Estate Private Equity (PE) Fund.
Currently a Fractional CFO leading start-up VC and PE funds based out of NYC and Colorado, TJ’s extensive background encompasses diverse environments, enabling him to adapt quickly to different organizational cultures and challenges. He has a proven track record in closing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, leading audits, and engaging with investors. With a strong grasp of operational dynamics, TJ is well-equipped to provide valuable insights and adapt to diverse project needs.
In his spare time, TJ lives in Arizona and enjoys listening to music, doing CrossFit, and playing pickleball. As a foodie from New York, he loves trying new foods and exploring culinary experiences.
